MediTek Supports ATP Society
Wednesday, 30 November 2011
Global Stairlift manufacturer MediTek is the latest company to support employee accreditation to the Assistive Technology Practitioners Society (ATP).
Paul Levey, who works in the company’s technical support team was recently accepted into the ATP Society.
The ATP Society aims to recognise job competences and raise standards, in turn giving members of the public, and professionals, the confidence that if they deal with a Registered Practitioner they are dealing with someone they can trust.
Every registered individual has an identity card and a certificate of proof of his or her registration (and at what level). There is a special Code of Conduct for the scheme, too, which every member agrees to follow.
Speaking of the decision to support the scheme MediTek Managing Director, Phil Rice, said:
“MediTek is an active supporter of the BHTA and its aim to help consumers identify ethical and reliable business in the homecare industry. The ATP Society takes that principle to an employee level; so that consumers can be assured the individuals they are dealing with, not just the company, are qualified and experienced to undertake their roles and tasks. Funding Paul’s ATP application was a commitment by the company to both supporting this initiative and recognition of our obligation to invest in our employees. Indeed, since Paul’s successful application, several other company employees have requested interest in applying for ATP membership and the company will support their applications too.”
And of his acceptance into the ATP Society Paul Levey said: “I’m pleased my application was successful and that the company was prepared to fund my subscription. I think moving forward, many in our industry will need to demonstrate higher standards of professionalism and a commitment to high standards and good practice and I think the ATP Society is a perfect example of an institution set do that.”
