MediTek argues case for procurement reform
Friday, 25 November 2011
On the 24th November 2011, MediTek managing director, Phil Rice, Embryonyx director, Angus Long and NECC head of Policy, Ross Smith, met Health Minister Simon Burns and senior civil servants, along with North East MPs Grahame Morris and Catherine McKinnell, to present a case for public procurement reform in the healthcare sector. Specifically, concerns about a ’silo’ mentality to procurement which overlooks innovations delivering savings to other departments in favour of cheaper price alternatives, and the role of NHS Supply Chain.
Phil Rice said;
“I am pleased to say that, following what was a productive and informative meeting with the Minister for Health, I am looking forward to contributing to forthcoming work, being spearheaded by the NECC with the civil servants who are interested in looking at options for reform.”
